Bye For Now

So where I am in my life I am unsure of...well...a lot of things. I just don't have the modivation to do everything I have to do and also blog. I will be keeping my blog up but don't plan on blogging much in the near future. Hopefully I'll be back soon.

Sweater Recons!

So I tried to get this post up sooner but our internet has been messed up the past week. Nothing to fancy. The top left was a large men's sweater, can be worn as a shirt or a dress with leggings. Top right was a long sleeve turtle neck that was to big for me so I cut off the sleeves and re-sized it. The bottom one was a large button up sweater, and is little hard to explain how I did but I'll try, I cut off the sleeves, seam ripped the sides then pulled the front sides together to meet in the back and the back sides are pulled together in the front so there are long pockets on the inside (make sense?).
I am working on reupholstering a chair at the moment, hopefully it will be done by next week. I also have a dress to post about soon :) and hopefully some more recons.
recons
I don't have a good view of this one so I'll just post this picture. It was a men's large button up flannel that I resized..well tried to resize..it doesn't close :( but I still love it

Have an awesome week!

A New Start

I've been away for awhile...a long while. I just didn't have the energy to blog, that and I've been blue and lazy the past...however long it's been. The weather is starting to look up and that seems to be helping a lot. I have new plans, new goals, I need a new start. My etsy has been doing okay, haven't sold anything handmade yet :( all my fabric has just been piling up..I decided a month or so ago not to buy anymore until I move some out, that was a very good idea and I stuck to it. I got my serger in the mail and I LOVE it to death! I've made a couple of things (that I don't have pictures of yet but will in a day or two, I promise no procrastinating) and although I haven't been buying sheets I have bought a few pieces of clothing to alter and revamp.
It rained all day this past Saturday, Sunday morning I woke up to step on a soaking wet carpet (I live in my parents basement). I did not realize how bad it was until I looked around, where there wasn't carpet there was at least an inch of water. Needless to say I spent my whole Sunday cleaning and ripping up carpet, fun times. I wasn't to thrilled about it but as the day went on I realized how much crap I have that I don't use and don't need. I hoard my fabric and nothing ever gets used. This is when I decided to clean everything out, I will not be selling fabric on my etsy anymore because I do not have the space for it and I would like to venture into other things. Right now having all that I do is unrealistic and it's probably not good for my health either.
I gave over 75% of my fabric to a local woman who makes things for cancer patients, I also ended up giving her 95% of my stuffing (I probably should have given it all to her). At least now the fabric will be used for a good cause and appreciated.
I have a 30lb box of knit fabric that is on ebay right now....30lbs!!!! I know what your thinking, yeah it was that bad....I had an addiction and I'm happy to say that I am recovering from it and don't plan on going back.
The hunt continues for a house, although I could defiantly be spending more time on that than I am, I'm in no rush but I will be putting more effort into it in the near future.
Milo is growing up sooo fast! I hope I've been making all the right decisions for him and he will thank me for it in the future but I have been struggling to justify certain things and decisions I have made involving him. I don't feel bad about anything I've done I just wonder if it's the best way to go about it.

A Little Update

I've been very busy and stressed out lately, that is the reason for my lack of blogging. On a lighter note I've made some etsy sales :)
I have stopped thrifting for now until I get some of my stock down (to a controllable size).
Here are some pictures of the scarves I made...awhile ago lol
DSCN0492[1]
DSCN0489[1]
I am planning on hosting a swap in the near future (possibly within the month). It will be a vintage fat quarter swap, ten people will be able to sign up (US only) and they will have to send ten vintage fat quarters from vintage sheets/fabric and will receive ten back. If you are interested please let me know. I will be hashing out the details within the next week or two and hopefully have it all set up by the end of the month. I hope to do this every month or every other month if the first one goes well.

WIP Wednsday

Today I will be finishing up some scarves from some sheets I've picked up here and there. Unfortunately I don't have many of these sheets so there will be a limited supply of the scarves. I will be listing one bigger one (orange and black) on my etsy and three smaller ones (yellow and black). I know that the yellow and black ones are 100% cotton, I am not sure of the other one but they feel identical. Now I'm off to sew them up!

Thrifty Finds!

So I was just looking on my blog and realized A LOT of my pictures aren't showing up! Whats up with that?!?! I'll try to figure it out within the next few days but until then here are some recent finds (hopefully they'll show up!).
This sheet is like one of my previous ones (same type of fabric and pattern). I never put a picture up but I made a scarf out of the other one and I love it, I think this one will be made into a scarf also :)
DSCN0439[1]
I think this sheet would make an adorable dress, it has a very large floral print, I would say they're somewhere around at least 6"x6" each.

I think this is super cute. Not something I would do but it's very neat.

This beauty was picked up for me by my sister. She found it on the side of the road, how could anyone throw this away!?! Even if it is a little...used...its still a very sturdy beautiful piece I can't wait to get started on it! Any fabric ideas??

WIP Wednsday

No sales on my etsy yet, but I really need to keep listing fq's as much as possible so there's a larger selection. I made some new some the other day, green tea and vanilla bean (with actual vanilla beans in it for very mild exfoliating).
Green Tea and Vanilla
I'm hoping the vanilla will darken up a bit, but I really like how it turned out.
I can't really show what I've been working on because as of the moment it's basically brainstorming, I really want to concentrate on my etsy photos and do better in that area, I feel like I need more of a variety with them.
I haven't been working on much other than that. It's been a very rough week, I've been sick, not sure what I have but I think it might be a little stress related. I've been coming home and passing out right away, not for long but still to be that tired (after at least 7 or 8 hours of sleep) is not how I usually am and hopefully I'll be back to my old self soon.

Open!!!!

It's done! My etsy is officially open!
Right now I only have 6 different types of fat quarters up, 2 different types of soap, and 5 different types of washcloths but I will be adding more all the time.
As a little celebration of my shop opening I have a special going on, buy 4 fat quarters get the 5th free, or buy 5 fat quarters and get free shipping, I think I may have this special up for the fist month. If you would like to see more of what I have to offer check out my flickr, if you would like to purchase something please convo me through my etsy.
Have a wonderful weekend!!

WIP Wednsday

I would be overjoyed to tell you all that my etsy is finally open, but it's not. It's not that I haven't been working on it, I have....A LOT. Right now I have over 5 items listed just not activated, I have to check a few shipping prices first and then everything will be on for your viewing/buying pleasure. I am also trying to get all the sheets I have pictured up on my flickr so buyers will be able to see things that I will be putting into my shop in the future or have the option of buying larger pieces than fat quarters. I have my bio and shop policies all listed in my shop! I am very excited about it but I don't want to leave anything out (I think that's why I've been putting it off for so long) its a jump in the right direction and change, good but still kind of scary. I've done ebay in the past, a lot, and I still do it at work. Etsy just seems so much more personal, I really like it and I'm glad I'm kicking myself to get it done (with my sil's help of course!). Etsy has been my wip all week and I will have items up and going by Friday, hopefully tomorrow but defiantly Friday. Sorry no pics! Update soon!
My laundry soap is still gelling, not sure how long it is supposed to take, I made it yesterday around 2 and at least half of it gelled so hopefully it will be okay, keep your fingers crossed!

A Few Nice Things..

If anyone out there in blog land is looking for some nice quality plugs here is the place to go. I've ordered multiple plugs from them throughout the years and have always been pleased with my purchase. My next purchase will (hopefully) be these beauties, I just have to justify spending $125 on them, so it may not happen anytime soon, maybe if I get a nice tax return :) If anyone has any other places they like to get plugs from please let me know! It's always good to spread the word of quality plugs.

I love this video, I love the song even more.
Her Morning Elegance / Oren Lavie

I made some laundry soap today, now I have to wait 24 hours for it to gel. I hope it turns out good because I am completely out of laundry soap and would hate to have to buy another container. I should have an update on that tomorrow.
I also worked on my etsy, now I have my bio and shop policies all filled out! Yay!! Now all that's left is listing items, I hope to get at least one item on by the end of the night. Wish me luck!

Week Wrap-up

So I didn't have time to do a wip Wednesday this past week, nothing special was going on I was finishing my swap package to send out on Friday (no pics) and cut up some fq's. I did receive my package from Amanda for the Valentines Day swap, it was very cute! I received a mini mirror that's going to be perfect to carry around in my purse, some roll on perfume (lavender, smells delicious), some lavender blueberry chocolate (always wanted to try but never did) I love how it tastes! Milo got a toy giraffe, some freeze dried fruit, and some blow pops. Here are some pics!

I did have a picture of everything laid out but am not able to find it at the moment.

I couldn't resist this stripped stretch knit, two yards for a buck! Now I have to find an undie pattern! Sorry if that's to much info but I would love to make some undies in the near future and will probably blog about it.

Lets see what else happened this past week...My father is helping me set up an upholstery shop in the garage and we moved some stuff out there, it is still far from finished though.
I made three batches of soap this past week, one batch of unscented/uncolored and two batches of unscented/uncolored with oatmeal. I also have some lavender infusing right now to make some more lavender soap.
I did not get my shop up yet but will be adding things to it starting tomorrow (my half day off), wish me luck!

Progress

I've been keeping busy (as always). My biggest project was organizing my bed/craft room. I got all the big things done within a week and now its just down to organizing papers and little supplies. My bed has been put away and I am now sleeping on a futon, once you get a queen size bed out of a tiny room it clears up a lot of space. I don't have any before pictures but just imagine a bed taking up over half the room.
DSCN0278[1]
My fabric is now in front of my face wanting to be used instead of stored away in a closet.
DSCN0279[1]
All my scrap fabric for stuffing. I told you I can't throw anything away!
DSCN0280[1]
Books :D
DSCN0281[1]
Sheets needed to be cut, easy to get to. And my button maker that I need to use more!
DSCN0282[1]
Last but not least a little dresser with all my ribbon, buttons, zippers, thread. I painted it a pistachio color last week. Can you believe I almost threw it away because I thought it was useless and ugly!?!

DSCN0283[1]
A little break and some fun we had.
DSCN0267[1]
I am going to start posting a blog every Wednesday with my work in progress projects (WIP Wednesday, maybe you've heard of it??) I snatched the idea from my sil who snatched it from somewhere else. I was not able to get mine done this Wednesday so here it is a little late. I ended up making two batches of soap last night, one lavender and the other uncolored/unscented.
I like how natural they look and hope to incorporate recycling with my packaging. Once they are hard enough I'll be putting them in my etsy, the shop isn't up yet but it should be by the end of the month!!!

Milo's Birthday and Salvation Army Finds

So Saturday I made it to Salvation Army and got to look at the sheets. I am sooo happy I went! They had half off on white tags that day so everything except for one set of sheets was half off. Now I'll just have to go back for all the other ones when they're half off :)
Enjoy!

I absolutely adore the sheets in the last photo. I didn't have much shopping time so I really didn't look at what the set came with, I thought it was a bedroom set but it ended up being three fitted sheets and two loose sheets. I'm thinking of making it a bedroom set for Milo and I'm sure I'll have some left over. Any other ideas?
Sunday was Milo's birthday, every year my grandparents come over with cake and presents. So we all started cleaning, that led to deeper cleaning and I ended up downstairs in a big mess (I'll be blogging about that very soon). Around four we started making supper (veggie lasagna!) and everyone (grandparents and my best friend Madelyn) got there around six. We played wii had supper ate cake and opened presents, very long day. Milo had a blast and didn't want to go to bed at the end of the night (to excited about his train sets he got). Here are a few (of the many) pictures.

Friday Finds!!

So I usually go thrifting on Wednesdays but since I missed this Wednesday I went Friday. I think I'll be going on Fridays more often now. I also only go to Value Village, although I usually plan on going to all of them it doesn't happen and I need to work on getting to all of them. Anywho I found oodles of sheets and fabric, I also picked up a telescope for my brother for his birthday some embroidery hoops for my sil and some contact paper for wall decals. I found a lot of goodies but limited myself to the ones I liked best (that and I only brought a $20...ended up spending $17). Without further ado
This one is actually from last week

This one is only a pillowcase :(
Hopefully there's a sheet somewhere in the back they will put out eventually.

Hope you enjoyed! I'll be back next week with more!! Hopefully a nice selection too :)
P.S. Decided to not make my own soap molds and just search for things I can use as molds, so until then my soap is going to be done in loaf pans :)

Keeping Busy

I've been getting a bit done this week, not nearly as much as I would like though. I got a few sheets all cut up into fq's (what a pain!), started infusing some oil for soap, and knit some washcloths.

Here is some soap that I made a couple of weeks ago. The Whit is unscented, the rose color (looks like purple in the photo) is lavender, and the purple (looks kind of gray in the photo but it is a really pretty purple) is rosemery and mint. I used some soap colors I got from Hobby Lobby to color them and after that I've decided to stick with natural colorants. The soap did turn out really good but the coloring process did not work one bit for me, they are pretty colors but those were really the only colors I was able to get out of what I had.
DSCN0101[1]
I received a lovely fq from Nine Fireflies from FFF giveaway, amazing fabric I may just have to go buy some!
DSCN0102[1]
I am having a little bit of a dilemma though. I've been searching for some soap molds but I can't find the size I want. I don't want my soap to come out square, I would really like it to be more rectangular and I'd rather not have to do a custom order so I think I'm just going to have to add another thing to my to do list and make some myself. I would like to make some soap this upcoming week so I am going to work on getting it done tomorrow, hopefully I'll have another post up before the end of the week with new soap molds!
Oh yeah Happy New Year!!!
